The Rusted Garage

Post by Admin on Mon Jun 13, 2016 3:00 pm

A small satellite station hovers around an unassuming planet of bright blues and greens. As you approach, a large sign stating "The Rusted Garage" is clearly visible, posted on all sides and backlit for convenience. The place looks held together by duct tape and dreams, but as you land in its bay it seems to be fully professionally stocked. A few men in jumpsuits come out to greet you.

"What service ya been needin' tuhday?" asks a full bearded man with a couple of missing teeth.

Walking out into the bay Dak greets the bearded man with a firm handshake.

"Gib sent us, said you could fix our busted guns. He also said he would pick up the bill."

The man shakes back firmly, his hands large and rough, showing he's been a real working man. He sort of scratches the side of his head with a wrench as he replies.

"Ah, so you're those guys he was talkin about. Told me to give you the Friendly discount... Name's Friendly, by the way. I'lla take a look around and see what I can do for your guns. Before I do, are they all purpose, or somethin else?"

[Basically, decide if anyone can use them with any stat (except Brawn),or of they use one stat and have another item trait]

[up to you guys. not sure what item trait could be useful. Perhaps defensive to give our guns some resilience. Maybe ranged again? twin-link cannons? If we chose one stat which would it be? Each of us seems to have focused on a different primary stat (except ken, who has got an even balance between stats) IMO the all-stat is probably the safer bet.]

"Well met Friendly, the names Dak and I'm the captain of this beautiful hunk of metal. In regards to the guns, they are all purpose. I need them on line ASAP, in our line of work, being defenseless is a risk I'm not willing to take."

"Gotcha, Duke. I'll have those guns a-purring again in no time flat." The man.beckoned to some.of the crew, who immediately began setting uo equipment around to perimeter of the ship, and inspecting the weaponry. "How'd these guns get so worn out, anyways?" the wisened man asked one of the crew members after a while.

[This is where one of you can make up a story!  Mundane, amazing, or whatever. If you want to put a spin to it, roll your Spirit to determine if it was a good event or bad event. Did you heroically divebomb into an enemy ship and save someone's life, or did some kids vandalize it? Or just decide yourself what happened and how well you guys fared. ]

[Yea, ken. What mess did you get us into? I say we each roll and add onto the story. If anything to test out rolling.]

[Sounds good. If you're unsure what to do, consult the How To for how to roll dice, then the rules for Tavern Tales on rolling and what a Good Tale and Bad Tale is. In this case, you're rolling and adding your Spirit just to see how lucky you guys were for how this ship got messed up. A bad result doesn't hurt you guys in any way, though might make you look bad. Heh. In this case as well, you CAN tell your own Bad Tales.]

"Our mutual friend Gib, sent us on mission that should have been a cake walk. We had to recover a stolen treasure in the Regal system, what he forgot to mention is that Reapers were the ones who had stolen it. Anyway, we finally catch up to our target and believe it or not our first shot takes out their forward thrusters...

Jeishi interjects over their comms "Weapon power limits had been bypassed to 147% throughput. The resulting effect was devastating to their propulsion. Their ship was left immobile. Unfortunately i had not calculated for the subsequent blow-back to our own system. Our weapons began to over-heat rendering them dangerously fragile. The weapon systems would have been salvageable if it weren't for what transpired after..."

Captain, looks like they are launching a few ships to onboard us. There will have to be a little luck to take them all but I can do it. Raiijin shoots all three incoming ships with an unsettling calmness. Overhead the ship alarms are blaring. Everyone hears explosions in the background. "Looks like the guns are out, my apologies, sir."

"Well that's the story of how our guns went out of commission but, that's not even the best part of the story. During the confusion of the firefight we sent Sasha, our Master at Arms, over to "retrieve" the stolen goods."

Dak turns to Sasha, "You are much better at telling this part than I am."

"Not so sure why you'd want to share our strategies, but hey, you're the boss, Boss." Sasha raises a hand, curled over her mouth to stifle a cough as she cleared her throat. "It went a bit like this..." she adds, shifting in her seat to fix her posture and seem a bit more professional as she recounts the tale.

Rather than watching the woman sit in her chair and tell a story the screen cuts to black, opening on a solid red light, as the moment passes the "camera" pulls back to reveal our fearless Ms.Blum clad in a space suit, standing beside the cargo-bay door, tow cable in hand. With the red indicator beginning to blink a damn near earsplitting alarm sounds, accompanied by a less than polite suggestion to clear the bay. With the door open Sasha is hurled out, rocketing towards the now stationary ships cargo bay. Slamming against the hatch our dear cyborg puts the entirety of her body THROUGH IT (Siege Breakers no joke kids!) Causing the room to flood, or rather empty it's Oxygen supply and sending the smaller loose containers out to be retrieved later, the largest being attached to her tow cable as she relayed for pick-up. The end.
(OOC: Sorry for the delay and my craptastical play lately, just had myself a horse baby and it's very distracting.)

"That was quite the impressive story. I never done nothing quite so amazing in my life, though I did used to be a ship racer way back when. Ah, to be twenty again!"

Thwre wouldn't be too much waiting before the finishing touches were being made, and the crew was wrapping up its work on the repairs. The old man makes sure before the crew sets out to hand them a Dial Card for the shop, an easy way to connect communicators to someplace without manually millions of numbers.

"Be sure to give us a call if ya need anything else done. Will be happu to have ya again."
