Terravic City - Planet Mayol

Post by Admin on Tue Jun 14, 2016 6:36 pm

The city is a dump of a place, created mostly with recycled materials that haven't lost much of their origional shapes. Roofs made of ship hulls, and walls made of scrap alluminum cover the entire place. Yet somehow all of the structures are sound and of good craftsmanship, not a single gap of sunlight seeping through the seams.

The team is currently here to: Investigate the smuggling of illegal alien lifeforms.

You guys may plan out what actions you shall be taking amongst each other, and when you have an idea of how you would like to proceed, we can begin the challenge of finding the suspects. Feel free to be creative and use your traits to your advantage.

[I would suggest everyone finalize their characters i.e. Traits and treasures before progessing so we're working with our full potential]

[ That would be a good idea. I had figured everyone was done, but perhaps not. If anyone needs any help figuring out their stuff, just let me know. ]

I'd prefer in character. You guys don't necessarily have to have a plan. Yoi could all just tell me what you want to attempt to do. If it would make it easier for you, I can adjudicate for you guys for this first mission what stat you would be rolling, make the roll for you, and describe what happens. That way you have an idea of what sort of things you can do in the future.]

The Defiant breaks through the hazy orange and lavender clouds that permeate the skies of Mayol in a remote gulley outside Terravic City

"Sir, I have chosen a landing zone outside the cities sensor ranges. Discretion is advised. Targets identities remain unidentified. Their whereabouts remain unknown. I advise allowing Willow to lead the landing party to a local recreational establishment and extract and possible leads that may arise while I gather aerial reconnaissance with Lassie and report any P.O.I."

[Basically, you guys let my will-o-wisp (named Willow) lead you to the nearest watering hole where you might glean some leads while I fly my war machine (LASV Light Armored Scout Vehicle, nicknamed Lassie) above the city stealth like and use my reconnaissance trait to get bolsters for the party on possible places or people of interest.]

"10-4 Jeishi"

"Everyone check your gear and comms, were headed into some sketchy territory and I want everyone on their toes."

"Our mission is to find and apprehend these smugglers if possible. We will meet back at the ship in 2 hours with any information we have gathered."

[Since you don't need any sort of roll for the will-o-wisp, I'll just tell you what happens for that.]

The small drone begins weaving through the spiraling alleyways and side passages that make up the pathwork city, leading any follower straight to the heart of the place where stand what looked to be a diner with its sign re-purposed for a tavern. A stack of flapjacks appears to somehow have been re-traced to look like an odd sort of mug.

All along the way there, any followers would receive strange looks from the locals, whose faces were all either covered in oil, soot, or dirt of some kind. It seemed this area was rather industrious, though the air remained surprisingly free of smog.

Sasha chose to follow out alongside the Drone, rather a block or so behind it to 'blend in', as well as one can while fully armored with a damn cannon on their hip.. At the very least she had had the sense to wrap herself in a ratty old shop canvas, splattered with about a decades worth of paint, oil, and general grime. Sure it wouldn't help much if anyone were paying attention, but with everyone distracted by the drone it should've held up well enough and at the very least allow her the opportunity to note reactions and potentially run 'loss prevention' on anyone found foolhardy enough to attempt scavenging their tech.

And so her adventure began! At least it would after following standard protocol and logging her exit. Can't fly out of cargo hatches all the time...

I'll do a roll for your disguise, to see if it will actually help with the investigation, or if it will end up just making the investigation more difficult. Remember that if you get a Bad Tale, it removes 1 from your Challenge Number during a challenge. Once you reach 0, you have been "defeated" in some way that you can no longer meaningfully contribute. It might be in this case that your cover is blown and nobody will talk to you, etc.

Luckily for you, your disguise handily blends in with the current populace, and you go unnoticed among the general rabble of the recycled city. The drone seems odd to them, but they don't make any connection that you may be tied to do.

[Investigation Progress: (4/5 Successes Remaining)]
In this instance I will show you how many successes you guys need to complete the challenge, just so you get an idea of what you may be up against. In the future, I may not be so lenient, unless you guys would prefer knowing the difficulty.

Dak exits the ship behind Willow, staying close enough to defend willow if the need arises. After a few minutes, what appears to be the local bar comes into view. Not knowing what awaits him Dak takes a deep breath and pushes the double doors open.

Meanwhile back at the ship, Jeishi silently descends from the rear hatch riding Lassie. The vehicle is a sleek white polished metal with its sole marking a sylized black wolf outlining the earth constellation Lupis, the emblem of the Mad Dogs [Thats our merc company name. If you dont like it you shouldve chimed in more.] The craft began hovering towards the city remaining aloft by a series of anti-gravity propulsion modules. When nearing the edge of the city they decreased pace and began ascending upwards while the white sheen slowly rippled and distorted into the sky colors in the background. By the time the craft reached the pinnacle of the cities meager skyline the craft was indistinguishable to the rooftops next to it. From this vantage point, Jeishi activated their reconnaissance sensors and began scanning the surrounding area for possible unlicensed alien signatures, suspicious entities, or unique areas of interest"

[Using the machines flying trait to get up to the highest point to get a better view - slowly as to not disrupt the cloaking device (invisibility trait) and using my reconnaissance trait to get leads/bolsters]

[It's going to take a while for Jeishi to do a full scan of the area, so we'll roll and act out Jeishi's recon during his next turn, if that's alright with you guys?]

The bar was a surprisingly bustling place, with a number of patrons slumped in their chairs and laughing audibly between cheerful chatter. It was still morning, but everyone was already drunk off of their asses. The barkeep is a gruff looking man with a visor over his eyes. An observer can tell whenever he turns his head that the visor is integrated into his body, likely meaning he had lost his eyes.

Dak walks over to the barkeep and orders a drink.

"I'm looking to make some cash, know of any jobs around this town that could provide some peace?"

Dak lays a few peace upon the counter, obviously more than what the drink would cost.

That could arguably be a Finesse roll, since you're technically telling a lie, but since you're buttering him up I will count it as charming, so I'll give you Spirit to this roll.

The barkeep tilts his head slightly toward the table, in a way that you can tell he is looking at the money, and then back up to you. He seems a tad suspicious about what you're getting at, and you've also caught the attention of some of the others in the bar.

"I wouldn't know of any places..." he says very blatantly, obviously ensuring cover against anyone listening in. The barkeep takes a moment then to grab your drink, setting down a coaster beneath it. Upon gazing into your drink, you can see the words "Crimson jacket, back corner." written upon the coaster. A glance in that direction leads to a rather large man dressed in a crimson jacket, arms of course not within the sleeves, but covered in their own sleeve of thick black hair. When you leave the counter, you can see the barkeep whispering something to a few men at the counter.

[You have received both a good tale and bad tale! That means you are 1 step closer to completing the investigation. However, suspicion has been thrown on you, making your task slightly more taxing. If you would, lower your CN (Challenge Number) by 1.]

Investigation Progress: 3/5 remaining

"Ahhh. The great thing about dinghy ass space ports like this is there is no reason to slink around. Lets find the nearest bar and see what we can find out captain". You see Raiijin talking to his clone, who then scampers into the night. "Just a little added insurance.. Drinks are on you cap."

Sasha stood posted outside the dive bars back entrance where all the least savory characters would enter and exit (Wait staff excluded. Sorry Clint, skull tattoo or no you're just not scary) waiting until either the Captain left or somebody of interest aside from the local drunks showed to conduct their business where she might then interpose herself.
